Muslim & South Asian Therapist in Houston, Texas
Culturally responsive therapy for immigrants, children of immigrants, and Muslim communities navigating anxiety, trauma, and family relationships.
It can be scary and frustrating when you don’t feel like yourself and you don’t understand why. You may feel pulled between different cultural identities while trying to stay grounded in the values you grew up with as an immigrant or child of immigrants. Over time, this tension can begin to affect your relationships, your sense of self, and the way you move through the world.
I am a South Asian Muslim Licensed Professional Counselor based in Houston, Texas, committed to helping individuals and families better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. I provide culturally affirming therapy via telehealth to people across Texas, particularly those from South Asian, Middle Eastern, and other Muslim-majority cultural backgrounds (often referred to as SWANA communities).

WONDERING HOW LIFE TURNED THIS WAY?
Feeling like things won’t change no matter what you do? I’m here for you.
Hello and Welcome
You feel disconnected from your loved ones and feel like no one understands what you’re going through. You’ve tried everything to help with your mood changes, overwhelming feelings of nervousness, guilt, not feeling good enough, and nothing seems to work. You feel buried under the weight of your fears and the pressures you face within your immigrant family. You feel hopeless and at the same time wish for things to get better, but don’t know where to even begin. I am here to work with you and help you navigate these challenges by creating a plan that will empower you to build a more fulfilling life that keeps your cultural values in mind.
I specialize in culturally responsive therapy for individuals from Muslim, South Asian, and Middle Eastern (SWANA) backgrounds. Many of my clients are immigrants, children of immigrants, or people navigating bicultural identities, family expectations, and intergenerational trauma.
Does This Sound Familiar?
Anxiety
Having racing thoughts that make you feel like you’ve lost control? Anxiety can rob you of feeling present in your life. The constant fears and “what-ifs” or “what will people say (log kya kehen ge)” occupy so much of your head space that they don’t allow for much else. I empower my clients to develop ways to manage their anxiety and prevent it from taking over their lives.
Depression
Having low mood or difficulty concentrating? Feeling tired, irritable, or on the edge of breaking down? Finding it difficult to feel motivated to do things that seem so easy for others can leave you feeling hopeless about your future. My clients usually need help building coping skills to create a life that is worth living.
Relationship Stress
Facing relationship struggles can make you feel overwhelmed. You may wish for things to be different but feel like you’re hitting a wall communicating with the other person. Relationship dynamics that feel repetitive can make you feel like you’re stuck in a cycle with no relief in sight. I help clients develop healthy boundaries and effective communication strategies to help them have more fulfilling connections with their loved ones.
Trauma
Having intrusive thoughts that take over your mind, experiencing flashbacks, insomnia, and panic, struggling to feel connected with yourself and others are all symptoms of underlying trauma. I help my clients gain a deeper understanding of the ways trauma shows up for them, help them overcome their past wounds, and live a life of meaning and purpose.
